Cafe Boheme

23 Windmill Brae, Aberdeen AB11 6HU | 01224 210677 | cafebohemerestaurant.co.uk

The cuisine and the ambience is definitely French, with the accent on Provence, where the patron originally hals from.

A family-run restaurant, it has been part of Aberdeen’s eating scene for 30 years.

Castle Fraser Restaurant

Sauchen AB517LD | 01467 642834 | www.castlefraserrestaurant.com

The setting could hardly be more romantic. The Castle Fraser restaurant is in the courtyard of the National Trust for Scotland’s Castle Fraser.

But while the venue is very Scottish, the cuisine is decidedly French – the restaurant being run by the French owner of the much-loved, but now closed Cafe Kintore.

Please note they do not have a licence, so take your own wine (but no spirits). Make an evening of your meal from 7pm to 11pm Thursday to Sunday.

Silver Darlings

Pocra Quay, Aberdeen | Telephone 01224 576229 | www.thesilverdarling.co.uk

This is deservedly acclaimed as one of of Aberdeen's top restaurants. Located right on the quayside at the entrance to Aberdeen Harbour, the restaurant is now in a glass-sided extension on top of the original building. Let's be clear, this a restaurant where quality, not quantity, is king. If you want generous portions, don't go to Silver Darlings. This place is about finesse.

You now ascend a spiral staircase to dining room where you can watch the vessels plying in and out of the harbour. The panoramic view of the beach and the harbour makes this a particularly special place - especially for a summer evening as the sun sets over the harbour.

The menu is strong on seafood. But, there are alternatives for landlubbers. Outstanding food, full of flavour and superbly presented.
